GDT 9/12/22: Braves @ Giants - Time To Hit That Final Stride

As is the case about 90% of the time, we are in total agreement.

One of my big concerns with Olson is that in an interview early in the season, he bascially admitted his weakness is the four-seam fastball, which is pretty much the pitch du jour nowadays. I haven't dissected every one of his ABs and I haven't looked at Statcast on him, but he strikes me as a guy who devours low-90s stuff but his performance really tails off above that. That's probably the same for most major league hitters, but the effects seem (note the word "seem") to be more extreme for Olson in both directions. Just my amateur observation (that could be completely off-base).

He can’t be worse then Ronnie vs a high velo fastball.
I still will never understand why pitchers throw him off speed stuff and not fastballs 90% of the time considering he’s probably a 350 plus hitter on breaking balls lol

Doesn’t matter how you slice…4 for your last 48 isn’t getting it done…and a huge part of why we have lost 3 in a row in which we could have easily won.

It just comes back to the Braves deciding Freeman was not worth the money and it literally blows my mind. Contact is the foundation of hitting and Freddie is by far and away better than Olson. The only real advantage Olson has in the power dept is so slight. But the thing that surprises me most is the defensive lapses. Olson is not smooth at all and we have seen Olson's glove get waffled on simple infield throws more than once this year. We saw that maybe 10 times in FF's 11 years as a Brave. I do not believe the BS that Freddie didn't want to be here. It looks even worse when you see Riley, Harris, and Olson get paid and the payroll going up. You just don't have the best player at a position in the league after a title and just let the player walk. In a rebuild, yes but not going for a repeat. It makes AA and the Braves look really bad. I am thrilled to see Freddie outperforming Olson and with the division being so close is just more proof the Braves made a huge mistake.

What kind of a Braves fan says he’s thrilled to see Freeman outperforming Olson?

I mean I understand wanting Freddie back but good lord your supposed to be a fan of the team.
I hated the choice not to resign him but at the end of the day I’m rooting for Olson fo out perform Freddie.

One that at the end of the day realizes none of this means a d---- thing.

VaginaBrave is a troll dude. Braves fans don’t root against players on the team. He’s a FF fan and needs to be on the Dodgers board

It’s true dude. All you do is come riding in on FF nut sack telling us how stupid the team is for not making him sign a contract. They offered him a fair deal and he got greedy. Everybody knows this but the dead horse keeps getting beat. Olson is here for 8 years and that’s not gonna change.

That's true, but Freddie's still BETTER...
