Felt like Washington had to sweep this series to have any chance of catching the Braves. If they did so, they would have been 5.5 games back and maybe given the Braves something to think about. Now the very best they can do is be 7.5 games back. One more Braves win this weekend may very well bury the Gnats.
 
I was super happy about the win tonight, until I learned that Willians Astudillo is actually playing with the Twins and killing the ball. I was probably the most heartbroken person in the world when we let him go.

He has apparently been up since June, but somehow I missed the news.

The Nationals are done. At the very best they can be 7.5 out with 13 to play. Even with that, they’d still basically have to win every game and hope both the Braves and Phillies lose the rest of their games.

They have no shot.

They probably are done, but I’m not counting out anything until they are eliminated. That said, the chances of them making it even a little bit interesting are slim to none and slim is about to get on the bus headed out of town.

And we have two series left with the Phillies, so it’s extra impossible. Basically Washington would need to win out and hope Atlanta loses out and Philly only beats Atlanta.
 
DId you see the MLB article on the pitchers the Braves beat? 3 contenders for the Cy Young, they would never be in the conversation if they keep playing the Braves. Braves beat them all soundly, only 2 wins among them and we played them they didn't say overall but I counted 10 times this year. Mad Max does not like the Braves, DeGrom can't beat us, we own Nola.

Impressive.


I would say each of those pitchers would pull a Urena and avoid to pitch against us and say they are hurt or suspended and pick on someone else. Because we don't give away at-bats (Flours and Bae notwithstanding), we are frustrating to pitch against.

He's been with the club for awhile, but watch a clip of him trying to play 3B and your broken heart will heal in a hurry. He's only up because Castro is hurt.
