GDT 9-15: Braves in DC

From Bowman today: https://www.mlb.com/news/ronald-acuna-jr-homers-shows-off-arm-in-braves-loss

The expectation around baseball has been that Kim will not exercise his $16 million player option for next season and become arguably the most attractive shortstop on the free-agent market. The Blue Jays’ Bo Bichette will be a free agent, but his defensive struggles create reason to question whether he should be deemed a shortstop, especially long term.

lol, AA is a complete moron if this happens. He paid him the rest of this season for no reason

I've been saying this. Regardless of this season he will opt to become a FA. He'll get a 3-5 year deal from somebody no doubt. Boras won't let him exercise that option. We will no doubt be looking for a SS in a few months.

lol on what earth is Kim a more attractive option than Bichette

How? You don't know if somebody will pick up an option when you trade for him. You hope he does but what exactly did we lose if he opts out?
I mean you gotta have some sort of idea before picking him up. He's a boras guy, so that's it - he's done as a brave if he opts out

And the 600 OPS and shoulder injuries wouldn’t scare teams off Kim?

Maybe Kim opts out. Idk. Just found that weird framing from the Bowmanitor
Hell yeah that scares me long term on Kim. Only reason we picked him up was for a 16 million 1 year gamble next season

If he's opting out, I'd stop showcasing him every day. Seems to me all you're doing is driving the cost up on a guy you want to get.

Him having a 100 WRC+ as a Braves is not driving up anything.

If anything this gives the Braves a good look (from a clubhouse perspective) if he's worth signing in the offseason.

In no way is it negative at all unless your on a crusade to be negative about literally everything.

I mean TB dropped him bc they were scared he'd opt in. He's played well and now all-the-sudden he's thinking he will opt out.

How many times has AA signed a Boris guy?

I never thought Kim would pick up the option. Boras is gonna get him a longer term deal and he will have multiple offers out there. I wouldn't sign him long term if I was AA. Bichette is destined for 3b or 2b at some point.

Only way braves keep him is one of the following...
1. He opts in
2. This report gets AA to offer 2 years, 25 million (or something similar) soon

If we miss out on Kim, AA has to get Kyle Tucker.

The Rays got rid of him for the complete opposite reason for us. The Rays were afraid he would pick up the option where we are afraid he won't.
