GDT 9/20/13: Braves (Maholm) @ Cubs (Baker) 2:20 PM - HEYWARD BACK!!!

I am not concerned about clinching today, I am against doing so with our game and Nats so far apart. I want either us to win or Nats to lose but not both. Then I want to clinch tomorrow on the field. That's the soonest way we can do so on the field, all things considered.

I am also not concerned about the Nats at all. They're not winning anything this year. I am concerned about holding on to home field however.

If we win one game, Wsh has to run the table.

I could maybe see it if we lose all 3 in Wsh.

But we need 2 wins or 2 Nats losses, or one win and one Wsh loss.

It also looks like we're going to miss Hamels in our 4 game series against Philly to end the year.

This new helmet is the first step in Jason making ESPN's commercial into a reality.

First a gladiator style helmet, then the lightsaber bat.

Technically speaking, Fredi could get 5.5 innings from Heyward today. He could still hit the top of the 6th if he hasn't had 3 AB's by then without having to play the field in the bottom half.

FYI, update on Heyward status for today, via Dave O'Brien on Twitter:

Jason Heyward will play five innings and/or receive three at-bats Friday.

Heyward has made a surprise early return to the lineup, but the Braves will ease him into things. He'll get the day off Saturday and will play enough down the stretch just in order to get him back up to speed before postseason play.

This is assuming the Nationals don't catch us.

LoL!! I laugh at this reference every time. Was there a particular poster or a few who were actually worried about that?

niners said we wouldn't win 90 games and that the Nationals were about to go on a tear and overtake us.

Heyward said don't count out the Nats when we were up 15.5 on them with a month and a half left to go.

Actually the thread where he said we wouldn't 90 games he said he expected about 82 wins from the Nats so it wasn't like he was overrating the Zombie Expos.
