GDT 9/22/24: Braves @ Marlins - Holmes before we go home

This week is gonna be great... the braves will pull a miracle, or most likely the season ends. Both seem like wonderful options

Who is that chugging beer?

For what it’s worth, FG has the Mets and Dbacks each at about 80% chance of making the playoffs, with the Braves at 40%.

That feels right. The only silver lining is the Braves control whether or not the Mets fail to get in.

Schwellenbach vs Severino
Sale vs Peterson
Fried vs Manaea

Pitching match up for the series.

Even if the braves take 2/3 vs Mets, I wouldn't say it's over. Brewers will certainly set up rotation, but I bet all there position guys play next weekend. They could be playing the Mets, so push them to use their best relievers hard to secure their spot

I’m becoming more at peace with it every day, it’s just frustrating that the Braves needed to win one or two more of the winnable games and they’d be in there with the Mets. The inconsistencies have been maddening, but it’s super hard to overcome the loss of about 10 wins between Strider, Acuna, Ozzie and Riley.

Braves are going to sweep the Mets.

Trust ol’ Hula on this one.

Crushing the Mets’ souls in September is what we do best.

I mentioned the other day that the NL is having a historic season. This wild card chase is crazy. The Braves would be in 1st place in the WC and with a 5-6 game lead over on the last wild card spot in most other seasons.

When I asked the other night about Riley's status no one really knew. Here is the latest update:

I realize the odds are we won't make it and this question is meaningless. That said, I was wondering what rotation we'd put out for playoffs if we make it. If Lopez is healthy, I still think he gets number three. But the one that fascinates me most is Morton and Schwellenbach. I think it should be Schwell, but just feels like one of those ones where we give the nod to Morton over seniority, etc. and because he's "pitched well in September" - if Lopez is out, I suppose you'd need both. If he isn't would be interesting

hopefully we can talk about the Braves playoff rotation next year. if for some miracle, they make it.. I doubt Lopez pitches. I think he is done for the year.

He continues making dumbass moves and putting the wrong guys in positions to fail.

I just know the guy led a team that didn't have its full arsenal all year and will probably end up within a game of the playoffs if they win the last two series. That does not deserve dismissal. Strider, Acuna, Murphy, Harris, Riley, and Albies all down to significant injury and there is no way he is blamed. I may as well add your boy Olson to that list seeing as how he was MIA as far as production for most of the season. This may be Snitker's best job of making chicken salad out of chicken s---.
