That's what most people don't realize. Yesterday was the hypothetical clinch celebration. Not the mathematical.
I don't know why people think a bench guy shouldn't be expected to hit because he doesn't play regularly (Terdo). If he can't hit with sporadic AB's and isn't going to start what good is he?
Minor's recent issues have mainly had to do with the first inning.
Plus the Brewers hit lefties well, so I'd say he's doing good so far. He gave up a solo homer but pitch count not bad and only one run through 4 innings.
In his last start he gave up 3 to the Gnats in the first, then shut them out the next five.
Huh? Any player has to get an occasional start to stay sharp. The longer a bench player goes without starting the less effective they tend to be. This is true across the board, it isn't just Joey T.
No, you construct a bench with players who are useful. Either they can hit off the bench, or are primarily defensive specialists. If he can't hit off the bench, he's worthless. Plenty of guys can hit off the bench, that's why you sign them to be back ups. Redd Johnson, Hinske, guys like that.
CJ's two K's tonight have been ludicrious. Swinging at crap nowhere's close.
