Start with the manager. The three September's under him have been a disaster.

pretty sure they had a strong september last year..19-8

and had a crappy one in 2010 with bobby cox 13-14

blame the hitters... or blame the GM for not picking up the right pieces at the deadline.

Fredi has a losing record in September for the Braves, despite 2012. Cox had a grand total of three
 
How have the Red Sox hit so well all year? Everyone on that team is having a career year. Why don't we ever seem to get that luck?

Not everyone. But the whole lineup is having an incredibly solid-to-great year. All of them.

2003 I'm fairly certain nearly everyone had a career year.
