GDT 9/25/13: Brewers (Lohse) @ Braves (Maholm) 7:10 PM

There are a lot of simple explanations floating around, so here's mine. The team is simply played out. They have expended a ton of effort all season battling through injuries and playing in a ton of close games. That can wear a team down and I think we've been seeing that for the past month (especially after the big series against the Nats in August where we basically put them away). It's not about Fredi. It's not about physical conditioning. It's about having been through the wringer.

What Gomez did is a prime example of why I support pitchers throwing at batters (below the head, of course).

I think it speaks volumes just how meh the Brewers' defense of Gomez was. I know their whole team came out of the dugout, but for the most part they were just standing around and not yelling or trying to fight.

Maybe this will light a bit of a fire under the Braves. Would be nice to get the offense going again.

What are you talking about? Freeman wanted to absolutely destroy Gomez. Reed came out of nowhere to throw down. Simmons was being held back. I don't think you're right in your assesment.

My God, it is time to win this entire thing!! It is time to shut the mouth of every ESPN, MLB, piece of crap "team" in this country. This organization has put up with too much garbage for years and it's time for it to stop! This team is just as talented yet flawed as most of the other recent World Series winners so why not this year for Atlanta. Gomez should have gotten his arse beat with a bat last night. Now the best thing to do is just let all of them stew at home during the offseason while the Braves enjoy their World Championship!!!! 'America's Team' died when TBS bailed ship; now, Braves vs. the world is all right especially if they can just freaking win it all!!!!

I think they realized it was an ass move.

The crew chief said Freddie threw an elbow at Ramirez. It looked to me like they just jostled a little bit.

I'm talking about the reaction of the Brew Crew not the Braves. The Braves definitely backed up their guy. The Brew Crew went on the field, but didn't really seem interested invested in backing up Gomez.

If there's one thing you can say about the Braves is that they've got each other's back. This is a tight knit group.

My apologies! I misread. Been a long week. Yes, I also thought it was fitting that the few players that tried to pull Gomez away were met with even more resistance from him. What a douche. I also heard that the third base coach made no attempt to high five Gomez on his way around third.

Holy ****, McCann is trending big time on Twitter. And the tweets aren't pretty. Some are hilarious, though.

People think he's a bully, which is pretty damn funny to me, considering he's not.

I think Mac was trying to get the Diamondbacks' attention last night. That stunt he pulled was pure grit.

Tongue in Cheek of course, B-Mac reminded me of the black knight in Monty Python and the Holy Grail.

"None shall pass"

He did look like a bouncer from a bar blocking home plate, it was an awesome view.

Brian Kenny is really disappointing me. He essentially called Mac a bully. I agreed with him during the Harper debacle, but I feel he's terribly wrong about last night.

If Gomez had simply just admired the home run, and Mac had done that, then it would have been over the top. But after the guy ran all the way around the bases talking ****, it made it justified. If you look at the face of the Brewers coach who was pulling Gomez back toward the dugout, that's all you really need to know.

Just wish our damn offense would have played "shutout police" or "lose series at home to below .500 teams police."

Brian Kenny also made out like we're a team of bullies. Kenny is entitled to his opinion but it's stupid and false.

Also, Kenny can kiss my arss for knocking Mac and the Braves like that.

Gomez has issues, he's lucky it was Maholm he was upset with and not Nolan Ryan or Bob Gibson. He might be in the hospital right about now. To hold a grudge for 2 months because you were hit in the ribs and leg is something that makes no sense to me. I've never seen a player act like that after hitting a homerun. He should be fined and suspended for his actions. There is no place for that in the game of baseball.
