So Sale hurt or are the Braves trying to save him for WC games that might not happen. If Sale pitches anything later than Saturday then he is toast for WC round for sure. So this is either Sale not feeling right or Kimbrel standing in the pen while the Dodgers take the lead.

Now this is goofy. Braves need all the wins they can get as soon as they can get them. You have to try and make sure you get those wins. I swear whoever the decision maker is on this stuff thinks way too hard on it.
I don't agree. It will likely come down to Monday anyways. KC could potentially clinch a playoff berth tomorrow night even if they don't win. In that scenario, I would take my chances with Lopez and Charlie vs the Royals AAA pitchers.
I want Sale potentially starting on Monday with the season on the line. And in the optimal scenario where AZ loses 2 of their next 3 games and we win 2 of our next 3, Sale will be able to throw game 1 of the playoffs.
If we lose tomorrow, and AZ and NY win, it's obviously something to consider. But at this point, shooting for Sale to start to Monday or ideally game 1 of the WC round is the way to go. No point in shooting your wad early if you don't have to.
Sale won’t be able to pitch in the WC round unless he pitches tomorrow.
If we sweep KC and AZ loses at least 2 games to SD or NY gets swept by the Brewers, we would clinch a playoff spot on Sunday. We can throw Elder and Vines on Monday if we wanted to.
So yes, there is still a scenario where could game 1 starter in the WC round.
The league is always run by an owners puppet. They literally hire and fire him.
Looks like the Braves decided to inflict this pain on themselves and the Mets. Clearly it was a poor choice, and the championship hopes will suffer for it.
I think you and the Braves are over thinking this Carp. You have to win games regardless of the order of wins. The Royals won't rest their hitters much if at all...
Also, KC doesn't hold the tie breaker so if twins win tonight even with the Royals win, the Royals tech only hold a 1 game lead. KC will bring their best this weekend and expecting anything less is dumb.
The Braves should bring their best available when available.. Sale tonight Fried tomorrow.
what if all three win on Friday and KC clinches their spot. Do you still hold Sale back even though you need a win. What happens if all three win Sat and you still have Sale. Do you throw him Sunday now.. if you do that, then he is toast for WC round.
this is monumentally dumb imo. win your damn games and plan for the variables you know. Right now the Braves know if they win the rest of their games they are in. That is the ONLY thing they know.
Incorrect. With the Royals winning today, their magic # is now 2. The have a 2.5 game lead on Minn. If Minny loses tonight, KC's lead is 3 games and their magic # goes to 1.
Seattle is officially eliminated now.

how was I incorrect. KC magic number is 2.. if Min wins tonight (against triple A fish) then the magic number is still 2.. which means KC either needs 2 more wins or a win and minny loss.. which is the same exact thing as saying KC basically holds a 1 game lead going into todays games.
No it isn't the same thing. It isn't "technically a 1 game lead." A 2 game lead is a 2 game lead, regardless of tie breakers.
