GDT 9/28/21: Braves vs Philthies - The series that defines our year

Speaking of the Cards. They are winning their 17th game in a row tonight and will clinch the last WC spot. Only the East title is the undecided NL playoff spot left.

I FINALLY feel comfortable saying the east is decided. I actually felt it was decided when we held on Sunday

I'm not the biggest Smith hater like some here but yeah he was lucky.

Even though Rosario should have caught that the EV on the 3 plays after the Harper walk. 99.3 with a 440 xba, 105.7 with a .600 xba, and 100.2 with a .380 xba

Smith was lucky they were literally right at people.

That's the way saves go against good hitting teams unless you've got Craig Kimbrel. We don't have a dominant closer on the team but we do have one that can handle the heat. He's not going to be perfect but he's probably the best we've got. Moving him from closer now would be a really, really risky managerial move and it would send a shock wave of uncertainty through the bullpen.

Get ready for the ride.

Phillies aren't a good hitting team though. They are a league average offense and that's with Harper being the best hitter in the league.

They are better than average and they've been pretty good against us this year. Having the best hitter in the league is enough in a close game. Will Smith pitched him almost perfectly tonight. That alone should be enough to get fans off his ass.

My problem with Will Smith is that he’s been downright terrible for over a month now. I was one of his biggest defenders before August. (Of his performance, I still think he’s a douche.)

Yes, to all of the above. He's been decent this season - nowhere near as bad as folks want to act like he's been, but he's been really lucky the last month. He's also pitched four of the last five days and there's no way he's not fatigued.

Craig Kimbrel. The guy with the 4.80 ERA since being traded to the Chisox. 1 for 4 in save opportunities. 10 walks and 5 homers allowed in 22 innings.

I’m hopping on your mom tonight.
