GDT - 9.29: Game 1, Nats at Braves - last regular-season series of 2023

Is it?

The 6 WC teams last year had win totals of 101, 92, 90, 89, 87, 86

This year your going to have two of the Marlins/Cubs/Reds/Dbacks with truly mid to low 80s win totals among all the WC teams.

Seems too early to tell how it will usually play out going forward.

We'll have to see if this is the norm. This is the first time we've had the balanced schedule where everybody plays everybody once.

As a fan of the 105 win team at risk of being bounced by the 85 win team in a short series, I am a little salty about the playoff system. However, it is undoubtedly good for the sport, so I take off my homer blinders and realize it’s a good thing overall.

86 and 87 would be mid 80’s win total, bro. All you have to do is look at past years to see the likelihood of lower win total teams when you allow 6 teams per league in.

And not everything is about being a homer or not a homer. This has nothing to do with the Braves. I’ve been bitching about diluting the postseason for 15 years now in this community. I bitched about them adding a 2nd wild card when the Braves would’ve made the playoffs just a few months before the change if they had instituted it for the season BEFORE they did.
