GDT 9/3 vs Cubs

I've been vocal about Fried being my favorite pitching prospect the last two years. So far, I really like what I see!

Jesus that curve is nasty...dare say one of the best in baseball when it's on?

I'd have to do some more research, but that curve gives him an absolute floor of a good LOOGY.

His most likely upside is probably approximately who we are seeing from the Cubs today, Mike Montgomery.

Barry Zito?

And Kemp was envisioning ESPN Top 10 there...nice save by Swanson

Zito was close to an 80 as far as LHers go. Will be interesting to compare them.

We only have data on Zito's curve from 2007 and later when he was already 29, but his curve had 11 inches of drop, and in later years lost an inch of drop and added 4+ inches of horizontal movement.

It stands to reason a younger Zito threw it a bit harder and may have had more movement.

If Zito's was a 75/80, and Newk's is a 60, Fried's is a 65.

If he has 97 in him, how do you get his avg up to 94-95? Strength training, endurance, or does it come naturally with age?

Frieds always been one of our best prospects. Only reason he didn't dominate this year is because of the blisters.
