GDT #9, 4/10/'14: Braves (Hale) vs. Mets (Mejia) BJ batting 2nd. Doumit Catching

Simmons is the best guy available. Doesn't strike out, decent pop, decent walk rate, and has some speed. And ideally I think that's what you want.

Simmons doesn't walk enough (only 1 walk this season) to be in the 2nd spot but out of the available guys we have he may be the best option. Although I fear him hitting into a lot of double plays because he doesn't strikeout.

You guys want a guy with a career .305 OBP and slugging % under .40 to hold the 2nd most important spot in the batting order?

Out of the guys we have to work with? He's probably the option that makes the most sense. Also for what it's worth, which isn't very much given the sample size, Simmons has done his best working hitting 2nd (.322/.354/.444 (.799) in 97 PA). The reason I believe that is the case is because Simmons can hit anyone's fastball and hitting in that spot of the order you get more fastballs to hit.
