On one of the biggest games of the year we get spanked by the 2nd lowest payroll in the league and a rookie pitcher. Since we lost we can say it was just one game but we all know different. It was a chance to get up off the canvas and fight for our season, but instead we went straight back down again without ever throwing a punch.

The good news is that the Brewers want it even less.

Their losing streak is over and they haven't looked that bad lately.

Well, yes, but there haven't been many games where our pitching just gave us no chance like last night. We're where we are because our offense is 14th in the league.

And yet people here insist on telling me this isn't a mediocre baseball team when that's exactly what we've been since mid-to-late April. I really fail to understand why I keep expecting us to go on a strong run the rest of the year. I need to do a better job of tempering my expectations.
