GDT: 9/5/2023 - Cardinals at Braves; Arcia gets the night off

It’s not preparation that’s the problem. While Soroka was out, over those three years the high strike with the four seamer became the preferred way to get outs. Michael is a sinker-slider guy and if he’s ever successful again, it will be because his employer recognizes this and lets him pitch his way.

Part of that is the injury itself. Going through it now, it's a bytch. But on the other hand, far removed from surgery he should go back to what worked. This ain't it.
 
It won’t matter if the offense doesn’t start hitting. Mikolas’ stuff has probably been worse than Soroka’s tonight. They just aren’t taking advantage as the Cards did.
 
It does bring me comfort that the Braves are literally only trash when they throw their No. 5 starter and their worst bullpen arms.
