GDT 9/5/25: Braves vs Mariners - Ronald Acuna’s Day Off

It would be on brand for the 2025 Braves to get Kim for one month to help them win more games, drop their draft lottery percentage, and then lose him because of a greedy agent.

If Kim keeps this up I wouldn’t be upset to hear that the Braves signed him for 2 years at something like 15 per year. That concerns me that he’ll turn down the option.

I think if he has a good last month it will make it likely Borass will want him to stay for 1 more year. He is all about putting his players in a position to succed and he isnt worried about gambling with the players money. So maybe Borass renegotiates more money in 2026 or adding another player option. Kim will only be 30 next year and hit FA at 31. I think adding a 20 million option for next year with a 4 million buyout might make sense. So he gets 4 million more assuming he does well and opts out. Another factor for Borass is we have no other options so he is virtually guaranteed to start at SS.

I knew Profar and Kim played together in SD but I didn't realize they were that close. Kim says it's his best friend in baseball so that'll make a big difference in him staying. The only obstacle and it's a big one (no not CY's mom's giny) is Boras.

Looking at the at bat where Rodriguez hit the Homer. Sinker down the middle called strike. Cutter down the middle foul ball. Splitter low outside foul ball. Then a splitter inside part of the plate that he hits for a Homer. Now I hate to criticize Waldrep for throwing strikes but 0-2 count vs one of their best hitters. Maybe try to get him to chase. Isn't Julio a free swinger? The splitter down and outside was good. Maybe tge second splitter meant to be inside but didn't locate it.
