GDT April Fool’s Day — Sale and the Island of Misfit Toys

If this team can't show some life and win at least four games on the upcoming homestand, there has to be a real serious conversation about a shake-up in the clubhouse. Could Snit be talked into an early retirement so his nearly 50-year tenure with the organization doesn't end with a firing?

You're right...zero leadership in the clubhouse therefore zero accountability...Guys like Riley and Olson aren't leaders...that's not their DNA...

Imagine for a minute that I'm dr Sam Beckett, and I quantum leap back to last Thursday. My mission is to set right what once went wrong, so during my mission I go back and use Johnson instead of neris. What's the braves record now? Same? 1-5? Better?

Oh, and while I'm in snit, I also go rob a bank in uniform to help with future games.

Only consolation I have for this is the dodgers and padres are both undefeated, so they haven't just beaten the Braves. The problem is that the braves should be on their level, and they just flat out arent

this team is so poorly run from top down to the minors.. AA had a chance to take this org into a new direction based around analytics and character.. instead he keep around a bunch of old Bobby Cox relics and built a team on finding diamonds in the rough gambles from perianal losers like the white soxs, A's, Angels and tigers. He is now in panic mode and grabbing what ever scraps he can find in hopes someone will emerge. Next will come more coaching fires, then ultimately AA will be run out of town with a legacy of dismantling a WS team faster than the Marlins on food stamps.

I think Anthopoulos' player acquisition process has been heavily reliant on analytics. You have a legitimate argument when it comes to player usage, but I've run out of fingers to count how many times the Braves have acquired someone with Bowman or O'Brien reporting that someone in player personnel has spouted some arcane measurement to justify the move.

Anthopoulos painted himself into a corner with some of the extensions (I think Enscheff and I are the only posters who pointed out the downside risk to those moves). It's one thing to buy out arbitration years like they did with Harris and Strider, but extending the second contract guys always bore some risk. Maybe it all takes a 180 in a day or two (and we have to remember than Strider and Acuna will be coming back) and Anthopoulos regains his genius status, but this is the team we have unless they want to blow through the next tier of the luxury tax and Anthopoulos is responsible for that.
