Pretty big win considering they were facing Scherzer.

Split the next 2 and it's a success, winning the next 2 and burying Washington would be nice though.
 
I am not looking past tomorrow, but looking ahead to Gio's start I hope Markakis gets a rare day off. Here's why, he is hitting .162 vs Gio in 37 AB's while Inciarte is hitting .440 vs Gio in 25 AB's. Gio is a lefty I wouldn't sit Inciarte but I would sit Markakis. Duvall is hitting .250 vs Gio in 12 AB's. I'd go Duvall-Inciarte-Acuna in this one. Snit likely sits Inciarte though.

I'd agree but Muk has just been putting together one solid at bat after another. OTOH we could certainly play an outfield of Duvall, Inciarte, and Acuna. Wish Duvall were putting the bat on the ball better right now. They say you are what your numbers say you are and, unfortunately Duvall is barely above .200 right now.

Especially with Murphy back in the lineup and Harper on a post-ASG tear.
 
Brooks baseball thinks Sean Newcomb threw sliders today, more than just a token 1 or 2. It actually looked pretty good, I wonder how it rates.

He did. Radio was taking about it. His curve has been so spotty I wouldn't be surprised if he was working on his slider.

I just think passing two teams is to much to overcome for them

My second choice would be starting Inciarte and sitting Duvall, Inciarte's .440 in 25 AB's is probably about his best vs any lefty so he's one lefty I let him face. Plus his defense in CF is much better than Acuna.

we should not be under any illusions...its a 3 team race for the division...and a dogfight for the wildcard spots...but this is what it's all about for me as a fan...meaningful baseball in september... October is just a nice little tournament
