GDT - August 7, 2018 - Game 2 of 2 - 7:05 @ Nationals

Straight horrible inning. I know people are going to make excuses, but we have to get at least one run there. Have to.

Blame that **** on Kurt...MFer had no approach or plan that AB...at a minimum pick a pitch and sit until you get it...

That was predictable.

Actually...yea it was.

Told my wife we weren’t scoring here. That’s what throwing money at a top game pitcher will do for you. Instead we keep throwing out draft bust after bust out there.

That inning is the exact example of why power matters. In this game, it's simply too hard given BABIP sequencing to just go single single single to score a run.

This **** started when that scrub ass lineup to include pitching couldn’t do **** vs a retard with an era in 6s...but since he throws “weally haward” we get out **** pushed in for consecutive game s

I realize that this should probably be a separate thread but there's a lot of talk on this board of how the results of our pitching based rebuild have been disappointing. We look at other team's elite pitchers and our young arms often look pretty tepid by comparison.

However, it occurs to me that we're putting guys out there with an average age of about 20 years old. The Mets stud pitchers' ages are: deGrom (30), Syndergaard (25), and Wheeler (28). Our youngsters seem to routinely face opponents that are far more seasoned so it's not shocking when they struggle more than we'd like. Newcombe is 25 and he's probably the most developed.

I remember how badly Glavine got torched when he first came up amid a lot of hype in 1987. IMO it's far too early to give up on our current crop of guys or label them busts.
