I didn't like having no Acuna/Albies combo in both games, but I did agree with starting Culberson tonight. I just would've had him start in place of Swanson. Culberson two homers today should get him more starts in place of Swanson.

We're again seeing what Sean can do if he has reasonable control. Not great, but reasonable. That was a heck of a pitch to Soto even if it wasn't called.

I realize that this should probably be a separate thread but there's a lot of talk on this board of how the results of our pitching based rebuild have been disappointing. We look at other team's elite pitchers and our young arms often look pretty tepid by comparison.

However, it occurs to me that we're putting guys out there with an average age of about 20 years old. The Mets stud pitchers' ages are: deGrom (30), Syndergaard (25), and Wheeler (28). Our youngsters seem to routinely face opponents that are far more seasoned so it's not shocking when they struggle more than we'd like. Newcombe is 25 and he's probably the most developed.

I remember how badly Glavine got torched when he first came up amid a lot of hype in 1987. IMO it's far too early to give up on our current crop of guys or label them busts.

agreed 100%. DOB posted a bit about Glavine's first 5 starts back in the late 80s and how twitter generation might've responded to his performace back then. These guys need more time, and we need an ace in his prime to lead this staff (deGrom) ... not another 3,4,5 in his prime (Gausman, Archer, etc)

Howdee Kurt has been missing a lot of Phat pitches lately. If we're not gonna get a true cleanup hitter, really need one of these catchers to get hot at the plate again at some point

Suzuki hasn’t done **** since May. At least Flowers is getting on base at a nice clip.

neither catcher is hitting much anymore, that hurts with others struggling too.
