GDT: Braves @ Arizona: Inciarte and Swanson return to the desert!

Well, horrible or not, dude needs to talk with the media at least. He also should just stop pitching horribly.

On a great note, Freddie Freeman is absolutely on fire. Man, I hope he does this moving forward!

does he *need* to talk to the media? why?

Not counting tonight, Since June 7th, 327/.423/.649 wOBA 438 wRC 176 in 291 plate appearances. That's pretty damn large size of MVP level offense.

Yeah it's legit. I was somewhat wary at the time of when he signed that contract due to the high BABIP that influenced that particular season but he's proven it to be no fluke. He's going to have another 5 WAR season. Definitely signed him at the right time.

Last 30 games for each of these players....

Inciarte -- .858 ops

Garcia -- .840 ops

FF -- 1.215 ops

Kemp -- .888 ops

Markakis -- .856 ops

Pretty impressive stretch for these guys

If this hadn't come at a stretch where the pitching staff has imploded, we might be halfway decent (but not really).

Looks like the staff has gotten the memo for diving for that no 1 pick.

Has any statement been made as to why Shea Simmons is pitching in AAA still. He's been off the DL for over a week.

Yeah our current 1-5 resembles an actual MLB offense. 13th in offense in MLB in the 2nd half. Compared to 2nd worst pitching (Dbacks are first). So my prediction? More high scoring games.

Folty is definitely hard to watch at times, but it's important to remember that he's taken at least a small step forward this year (in my estimation). Barring a major blow-up in the last 5 weeks of the season, I think he's tracking toward locking down a 2017 rotation spot. He's performed a little better than our other young pitchers who debuted last year, and he has more upside.

Encouraging.

BUT, lots and lots of games against other horrible teams as well - Minnesota, Arizona, WS, Rockies, Reds, Phillies, Brewers. Even the good teams that they have played they are somewhat catching at the right time with Stras hurting for the Gnats, Pittsburgh scuffling along, the Giants slumping.

It's not like the Braves have been playing the AL East every week.

They also had an extremely tough schedule to start the year.

While that's true it's not like they were even hitting the bad teams in the first half of the season.

Aside from Chris Johnson and perhaps Simmomd (can be debated) those long term deals were pretty decent moves by Wren.

Too bad he was the kiss of death on free agent signings.

Uggla extension was poor as well. I would say he dominated the trades. FA signings were piss poor. Which is something a mid market team can't have mistakes on.

Yes. Thank you. I always seem to want to forget they traded for uggla and treat his extension like a fa signing.
