And I've changed my view on Freeman extension. I thought he would struggle to be worth the later years of his deal. He still might, but this will play if he keeps it up.
Uh, yeah, I'm not looking to the media to hold athletes accountable for having some off games. If sports media weren't the biggest joke next to fox news, maybe I would.
Watch yourself, I work for a mid-market Fox affiliate! LolUh, yeah, I'm not looking to the media to hold athletes accountable for having some off games. If sports media weren't the biggest joke next to fox news, maybe I would.
Its not really about the media holding them accountable, its about them showing that accountability to their teammates. If he refuses to answer questions when he bombs - some of his teammates are left answering those questions, his catcher, his manager, his defense -- he does *need* to talk to the media when things go wrong. Its part of the job and its part of being a professional. He's still young, he'll learn.
I just don't think most players care all that much about the media. What questions are going to be asked of him that, since he didn't answer, will now be asked to his catcher or manager? It's not like they'll only talk to the guy who bombs; they're probably still going to go to numerous players to get their takes and pointless, cliched quotes. Not talking to the media is only a big deal for the joke that is sports media and the "reporters" who get upset about it.
"So what happened out there, Viz?"
"How are you feeling tonight, Arodys?"
"Did you feel you made your pitch, or not?"
"Take me through this at-bat."
Idk, I don't see value in that BS and if a frustrated player doesn't feel like dealing with the lame media after a game, I couldn't care less, personally.
The media has a job to do, as a ballplayer working with them is part of your responsibilities.
I really just disagree with that.
I really just disagree with that.
I'd really like to know who you're voting for. lol
I really just disagree with that.
Well, since I can type in complete sentences, chances are it's not Trump![]()
People were saying this kind of stuff about Marshawn Lynch. For all I know, it's in Vizcaino's contract too (and technically part of his job).
Oh, lawd. Personal attacks are going to take us SO far on this message board. But in all honesty, that's good. I was a little worried there.
Uggla extension was poor as well. I would say he dominated the trades. FA signings were piss poor. Which is something a mid market team can't have mistakes on.
HINDSIGHT: This was nearly unanimously agreed upon at the time. If you say differently, I will call you out on it.
Media clauses are not allowed in baseball contracts. Unless the NFL has some stupid codicil, I know of no league that permits players to dodge media. Carlton did, but it was not in his contract.
People get so worked up over stupid stuff. He's suck right now and is frustrated; who cares who is wants to talk to? What does "holding him accountable" even mean?
