GDT: Braves at Phillies 7-5-13 Hudson Pushed Back a day

this team sucks with RISP anyways

But 2-for-6, 1-for-4 and 2-for-4 is not sucking. It's just not enough chances. And why do you think the Braves were winning all those games? It's because they were hitting RISP.

Go back to the last win against the Marlins. They were 8-for-22. That's how you score 11 runs without hitting a homerun.

Upton brothers since May 29th.

Justin - .212 AVG, .309 OBP, 580 OPS
BJ - .216 AVG,.328 OBP, .730 OPS

Sky Sox won over the Reno Aces. Juan Niscasio pitched 8 shutout innings. They shot fireworks off afterwards too! I also drank a beer in the family section and was asked to leave the section.

I'll disagree, Justin's power has been sucking balls, I like other aspects of his game in June. He won't hit for as miserable power as he did in June but if he gets his normal power back to go with his lowered K-Rate he could have a month that could rival April except for the homer totals

If you look at his month by months, April is obviously far and away his best month, but look at the other numbers, not just average/OBP/SLGApril
BB%, K%, HR/FB%

April - 14.3/26.8/38.7
May - 15.0/28.3/9.1
June - 12.6/24.3/5.3

Now obviously that HR/FB in June is putrid, but unless he's hurt, there's no way that stays that low. There's also no way his HR/FB was gonna be 38% all season as well. Justin had a freak April and is making up for it now. Does he continue to slide and have a meh season like last year? Does he hold aroudn this point and have an expected season? Does he improve and have a great season? All are important questions and no one knows the answers to them.

I just love how you believe deep down that this is some sort of statistical correction and not that Upton has some serious red flags.

Only red flag is that he could be hurt. He didn't just forget how to hit homers, and he wasn't gonna hit at a 38% clip, he was boudn to have some terrible months to adjust for that impossibly high HR/FB. He's now back around his average and as long as he's healthy he's bound to get back in the right direction, as long as he's healthy. His non FB numbers have been fairly consistent all year. OBviously the power decline could be an injury, but it also could be him have a herculean month and having issues trying to replicate it later that pretty much happen to everyone.

Upton is really not too far off his career numbers which have a substantial sample size to them. Why are we to believe he will become an elite player?

Who said he was playing like an elite player? Could hit that point, may not, who knows.

Nobody is saying he playing like one now but you and many others on this board said he is an elite player and will be one for this season. Don't run away from that statement now Zito.

Said he's an elite talent. We're trading for an MVP potential player. he could be better than this could be worse, who knows. This season hasn't played out so you saying he won't have a great season.

Anything is possible and I have always acknowledged that but for myself and others to even suggest that he won't have an MVP type season is scoffed at over here. You are clearly calming down on your rhetoric when it comes to UPton and I know that you realize that but can never admit something. Many of us raised red flags why he was even traded in the first place. I admit, April had me going as it did all of Braves nation and I really hope its just an injury because we need Justin. But, the fact of the matter is that he has not given us the season we were expecting and has been incredibly inconsistent in his career. I think people around here need to change their expectations of all of our players. The projections and reality are far apart in many situations.

What rhetoric are you talking about. Saying Justin is an elite talent? I think that his number 2 BA ranking before playing a single baseball game speaks to his talent. As far as season someone was expecting I can't vouch for what you were expecting.
