GDT: BRAVES @ CUBS MAKE UP

It can ALWAYS get worse. always

Thus why I was a proponent of keeping Fredito. Looking at what Game7 is doing right now vs. what Fredi used to do. I think if Linebrink were on this team he'd literally go assassinate Snitker himself compared to what Fredi did to his arm.

I wonder if someone from within the org got a hold of Game7 and told him to back off the pitching changes. He let two relieve pitchers come back in after the half inning.. I don't think I have ever seen that out of him before...

I wonder if someone will tell him to stop managing like we're fighting for a wild card spot and the playoffs start tomorrow.

Also that move twice surprised me also. I guess he realized we don't have any off days coming up and didn't want to burn out the guys now cause they'll just keep sending him AAA retreads?

I got in a debate about this with someone on another site. He thinks managers should manage like it is game 7 every day.. I asked him how many saves does Madison Bumgarner have outside of game 7's? Never got an answer.

you do that one season and your bullpen will have you in court for recovery of lost limbs.

In fairness, you've been towing the Snitkertrain for a while now. And he's managed the pitching staff arguably worse than Fredi, if such a thing were possible.

Based on what? I have very few issues with how Snit has managed the staff.

He has blown through BP pitchers... I can remember 2 games where he was out of pitchers by the 10th inning. one where he had to pitch a guy for 4 innings (why, I can't think of his name).. 2 days after he pitched a start..

He has completely miss used Jenkins and then pulling him after 4.2 innings.. that was BS!!!

He pitched Viz 7 games in 11 days for a total of 125 pitches *edit*.. one of those games they were up by 5 runs...

should I go on? this is completely off the top of my head.. not to mention pulling starters with 2 outs in an inning thus burning one relief pitcher for one out.. (that has happened a lot)

He has used 6 or more pitchers in a game 17 times since he took over. and 5 or more 21 times. That's too much pen use.

This is the thing that baffles me the most. Stuff like this happens, and it seems like the staff never sat down before the game and went over the ~10 most likely scenarios to come up in a game. These moves should pretty much be planned 5 hours before they happen, yet that never seems to be the case.

It happened with Fredi and now with Snit. Seems to be an organizational problem more than a manager specific issue.

ya know, I might agree with you except that it's pretty standard that the mgr owns the lineup card and the pen decisions. I doubt the gM has the time to be concerning himself with pen options against any given day' opposing lineup. The mgr needs to get info from the pitching coach and staff on who is available, who needs rest, who the most likely pinch hitters are late ...etc and have at least a working plan. Maybe they do and Snit just prefers going matchup to matchup with 1/3rd an inn. at a time.....

kinda troubling to think this might be by design eh?

I'll just comment here I suppose, but Wisler had done everything possible over the last month to make his fantastic start look like BS. That pitch to smelly with a 1-2 count was absolutely embarrassing and CANNOT be tolerated.

Stupid question. How come base coaches are not given gloves so they can better protect themselves against hard hit balls?
