GDT: Braves @ Fish Game 162

Nope... the tie breaker officially crowns us as champs

Although I do see some high profile Mets fans on Twitter using the identical records to do some major coping. A few are even screaming about there not being a 163 anymore, as if we didn’t just punt the final game of the season because we already had it wrapped up. And like they didn’t just get punked by us a few days ago with the title on the line.

So who do we want to win the Phillies/Cardinals series? Cardinals seem like the better team, but Nola/Wheeler doesn’t sound fun in a short series.

I’d lean Phillies because Nola and Wheeler would only be able to go once. The rest of their rotation is really mediocre unless you are a big Ranger Suarez stan.

They would only get Nola/Wheeler once.

The winner of the Wild Card series does not have much rest for the LDS.

This was the whole big deal about DeGrom and Scherzer. They can be used in the Wild Card round, but only each once in the LDS. Whereas if they had won the division, they would have been able to use at least one of them twice in the LDS.

Game 1 - Degrom
Game 2 - Scherzer
Day Off
Game 3 - Bassitt
Game 4 - Walker
Game 5 - DeGrom

But because they're lining both up for the the Wild Card Series it'd look like this:

WC
Game 1 Degrom
Game 2 Scherzer
Game 3 (Sunday)
Monday Off

LDS
Game 1 - Tuesday

So Degrom and Scherzer would be used Games 2 and 3, and only getting one start each on full rest. If we face Wheeler or Nola, we'd only see them once unless Philly put Game 2 starter on 3 days rest.

Yeah, went on a Mets message board and most of them are complaining about finishing in a tie. They were saying since the Braves lost today we should play a tiebreaker, lol. What a bunch of imbeciles. The Braves weren’t even trying to win the game, lol

That might be one of the most ridiculously stupid comments I’ve ever scene on a message board

You have to figure if it's the Phillies, they'd definitely bring back Nola or Wheeler on 3 days rest for game 5 if necessary.

Seems like the Mets are going to use Scherzer in game 1, and only use DeGrom in game 2 if they lose game 1, so they can potentially hold him back for NLDS game 1 on regular rest. Interesting strategy and I wonder if more teams will do similar

Dumb.. what if they lose game 2.. then do you use DeGrom in 3 and then not have him until game 3 of LCS? Why do managers try to out think the game.. just win the game in front of you.

I could understand if they were facing the Cardinals or perhaps the Phillies. But going against San Diego, with their 3 stud pitchers.....This could definitely come back to bite them in the ass

They scare me a little bit. The Braves can't hit that junk baller Suarez to save their life. So if he goes game 1, then you turn around to face, Wheeler, and Nola in games 2 and 3,....ouch

We are going to have to beat good pitching in every series. We just beat Jake and Max in what was our playoff tuneup. Bring on whoever and lets see what happens.

I would rather see the Cards personally. But I feel we would be favored over either of the Phills or Cards.

Give me the Cards as well. Their rotation is meh, bullpen is strong but not unhittable and the offense is somewhat hit-and-miss outside of the two obvious thumpers. They're a very good team but they scare me less than the Phillies.

Based on the way the schedule sets up for NLDS, DeGrom wouldn't be on regular rest until game 3 either way. I just don't like the idea of planning ahead for a serious you're not guaranteed to get to.
