GDT braves @ giants

Wow at Riley. Like Texiera said, he has a very repeatable swing. His streak from the minors to the majors is freakish.

Really excited about him. But the main concern was with him is hitting premium velocity. So hitting a home run on mistakes does not address that concern.

If he walks like he did in the minors he can probably be an above average regular just hitting mistakes

How often is premium velocity commanded effectively? I would think an overwhelming majority of homeruns are hit off 'mistake' pitches.

Have been listening to the game on the way home. Haven’t read the thread, and don’t know if any of you have been listening to the feed, but. There is a fairly drunk fan at the game that has been yelling loudly for several innings. I haven’t been able to understand him for the most part, but during a break in the conversation I very clearly heard him yell “I know you can hear me Joe!!” Now, I have no idea of this was a Braves fan or who he was talking to, but I want to believe very much that he has been berating Joe Simpson for the last 45 minutes

I believe he was doing it during Donaldson's at-bat. So probably was Josh not Joe.

gotta give the ump some props today. he’s been spot on with the strike zone on TV. even on really close stuff.

This makes no sense. High velocity isnt typically put on a tee, just admit you're wrong.

Wasn't Touki in the game earlier?

Nah it was Newcomb.

I hope Touki is throwing though so he gets in if the Braves don't get a run in the 10th.

I saw Riley turn around 95 for 100 MPH (or a little higher) recently. It just got caught. It might be the real premium velocity that is an issue if anything (like 96-98, Woodruff was throwing that and after he misplaced a changeup vs Acuna that went for a leadoff HR, Acuna also struggled vs it). That's OK, Acuna is iffy at times vs that (but if he connects its launched). His contact rates are shaky as heck right now but to me it's looked like he's lost vs sliders and cutters at times. Not the velocity.

No idea why Blevins came in with one lefty up. He's a strict LOOGY.
