GDT: Braves @ gNats 4/10

Working the count isn't going to do anything if you're having Karma go back around on you on being lucky hitting wise.

I honestly wouldn't be surprised if we're very disappointed about the results vs Cole tomorrow (if it's him and not Hellickson).

It was a fun ride but it's time for Camargo and Acuna.

I've been the one that has always said it's not the "head games" as it's been pressed to be by media, etc. It doesn't matter if you have hot stuff if your fastball can easily be gotten to (even with it fouled off).

I tend to agree with this. Though I don’t necessarily think it’s a stuff issue with Folty, I just wouldn’t characterize him as the cerebral type. For whatever reason his sequencing has always been found wanting. He’s always done a good job getting ahead of guys, but doesn’t seem to understand how to get guys out when he’s ahead in the count.

What he could really use is a catcher like McCann or Posey to call games for him. I always felt McCann was the unsung hero of those pitching staffs that seemed to overachieve year after year.

Even your basic defensive stats say Ender is already declining on defense...

It’s April 10th and it’s 45 degrees. We don’t have reliable defensive statistics to begin with and the ones we have now are certainly not reliable after ten games.

I think it’s likely Ender has already peaked on defense, but his demise on defense is easily the craziest overreaction of the season so far.

He went from 1.8 dWAR to .8 dWAR from 2016 to 2017....

On another related note, most backup Catchers do as well.

To be fair, it's not like ANYBODY - including AA - expected to have him in that role.

No, most back up catchers are at least decent at something. It usually involves defense, game calling or pitch framing. Perez sucks at everything.

Here’s a question for you. What aspect of Ender’s defense declined that drove that decline in DRS? Follow up question, what aspect of outfield defense is subject to the most volatility year to year?

Even if he declines the same amount this year, he's still a top 5 defensive CF. I don't think many CF get to either of those balls

Fine you win. Ender is the GOAT defensive CF in the NL still. Best by miles and miles.
