GDT: braves @ gnats 9/10

Freddie's "problem" is that he's the most boring sort of great player: a really good but (usually) not extraordinary hitter whose entire value is tied up in his bat. He's not going to do anything super cool in the field or on the base paths to draw attention, and at the plate he's a guy who does everything really well without being a standout at any one thing -- good contact hitter but not Ichiro, good power but not "oh dear God" light tower power, good plate discipline but not Cyborg Barry good.

You can put up a lot of .300/.400/.520 seasons as a solid first baseman without ever really attracting much attention.

Tatis is MVP in NL right now, having a ridiculous year. Giving how much the media loves him, unless Padres fall off bad, it's probably his to lose.

Hard to argue, in terms of both production and narrative, that Tatis isn't the NL MVP if it were voted/awarded today. The argument is with Freeman's not even being in the top five for these writers ... which is ludicrous.
