GDT: Braves @ Phillies Game 3: No Mentum Like Momentum

Signing 31 year olds who top out at 92 is not the answer… just like MadBum wasn’t the answer. Doesn’t matter that he no hit us

AJSS or Hand followed by AJSS was the answer… we all said this… was the painfully obvious answer

I would have been perfectly fine with the usage of Elder if we had just performed the very simple task of taking him out against Harper or at the very least just walking Harper. Hand really should have been in to face Schwarber and then the inning never even gets to Harper.

Only fitting that AJ came in and has looked nasty. Is it just me or have we really over-thought so many decisions these last several years? I will never forgive Soroka starting game 3 to ensure he got all of one start

But in this case, no one in their right mind thought Elder would get the job done. That said, he actually did... and then our manager just was a moron and kept him in it.

With the way this game has played out we literally could have had 1 inning one run from Hand, 2 shutout from Bryce and ~3 innings one run from AJ. It would be 2-2 right through 6th and battle of the pens.

Yes… if Elder was handled correctly and Tonkin wasn’t bizarrely called upon

Add Vaughan Grissom to the list of why is he even on the roster? Right there with Hernandez. And again, I ask: What was the point of putting Morton on the IL if you thought there was a chance he'd pitch in the postseason? You could have just kept him on the shelf with the expanded roster and then put him on the NLDS roster in Elder's place.

Not going to defend bringing in Tonkin, but if we had a warm body in left field, that inning at worst ends with us only down 4-1.

Was still a smoked ball and Tonkin has sucked for weeks… again, he’s the worst pitcher on the roster… you only use him if you’re already down 7

If you’re going

Niners has basically said he doesn’t even follow the team in the regular season… he’s just doing his usual schtick and it’s clear

I’ve followed the team all season. Just didn’t post here. They are wilting like the flowers in my front yard.

His arm is dead, but at least McHugh has been in the postseason before. I see no reason that Tonkin should have been included. Even that Ben Heller dude would have been better. And Chavez must still be hurt.
