GDT: Braves @ Phillies (July 7, 2013, SERIOUSLY)

Get 6 straight against the Marlins (at home) and the Phillies, and we're going to go 2-4. Whoever said it, I agree, we're not a good team right now. Starting to feel like it's just a matter of when, not if, the Nationals catch and pass us in the division.

Joey seems to have a very high baseball IQ, something I dont feel half out players have

Sorry, I disagree. If you know the strike zone well enough then you take your chances and swing at strikes. There is no guarantee you would foul it off, you could easily roll over the pitch and hit a weak ground ball. Swing at strikes, take balls. That's how Joey Votto hits and it seems to work for him.

With our manager, I wouldn't be surprised.

100% sure this is the case. It is this selfishness that caused him to play all year last year and have the worst year of his career. I dont think its a coincidence that when he rested, he started pounding the ball. But he has played about two straight weeks and sucks again

I wonder if Justin is hiding an injury

The power has completely disappeared.

From the time you start kid pitch you are taught to guard the plate with two strikes. Especially when the umpire is calling that outside pitch. There was no reason to not guard the plate by either player when they got two strikes on them. You foul that off and stay alive. You watch enough of those and you will strike out watching a lot.

Easy, Walt Hriniak. Not everyone is Tony Gwynn.

BJ should've swung. It was a strike, or certainly looked like it. Strike 3 to Chris was not close, and Eddings had called a similar pitch a ball.

How did it work out for him. The guy right before got called out on a similar pitch. May have been a good idea to guard the plate with two strikes.

Are you serious? AA, I mean.

Yes I am. If I see a shift on, I would be wearing out that side they aren't guarding (Oberkfell was awesome at this). They put a shift on for a reason, you must think with a high IQ of the not allow teams to put a shift on. You don't see that with Freeman?

May not have been a good idea to hack your way into an out. You say "guard the plate" like it's a foregone conclusion that he could control the outcome.
