GDT: Braves @ Reds 4/25

Maybe- I don’t know if Riley can handle the OF but I’ve been thinking since last year’s spring training that Carmargo will surprise a lot of folks. I think he may get more ABs as a utility player this season and then get moved to the OF full-time when Riley comes up.

I remember Kiley saying he thought Riley could handle RF at Suntrust. I think the only way that happens is if 3B is filled externally next year. It seems pretty clear this front office does not value Camargo as an every day player.

The runs Wisler gave up don't bother me. Votto's HR is a routine flyball most places and the replay officials gifted the Reds another run.

It's the 3 BBs to no Ks that's more worrisome.

Hopefully they’re been holding Carmargo back to see how healthy he is. I think Carmargo will be a doubles machine some day.

The 17 rockets he gave up in innings 1-4 didn't bother you?

I've never seen so many line drives right at people.

Guys were jumping on first pitch fastballs. It's not a difficult adjustment to fix that. Just mix up the pitch selection.

The lack of swings and misses is more concerning. Makes me think he needs his absolute best stuff to miss bats and having your best stuff doesn't happen a lot.

He needs to develop a third pitch. It would have gone a long way last night.

Seriously, the Reds are playing ridiculously over their heads this series

it's the majors. they started 3-19, they prob weren't gonna go 3-23 to start the year. they are a really bad team but i'd think any team that goes 3-19 is due some evening-out.

does this account for who's batting?

I doubt it. Also I forget where the information is located but I want to say that the chance of getting at least 1 run is greater in that situation even if the average total number of runs may be less. I could be wrong though.

Clearly there are some situations where a bunt is optimal but generally it's not.

And they shouldn't. If he becomes that, great. But there's nothing in his track record that suggests we should view him that way.

but how can he become that if he barely plays? in favor of people we're absolutely positive are not the future?
