GDT: Braves @ Reds 4/25

And they shouldn't. If he becomes that, great. But there's nothing in his track record that suggests we should view him that way.

Who you are in the past when you are <22 doesn't necessarily dictate you are going to be when you are >22. Camargo has shown an interesting uptick in his offensive performance. We need more data which means more playing time so that we can properly forecast his future.

The 17 rockets he gave up in innings 1-4 didn't bother you?

I've never seen so many line drives right at people.

Started watching in the third and I thought there were a fair amount of weak pop ups as well, but I've largely given up on Wisler based on the two years of prior performance.

He doesn't seem to be able to consistently command his pitches the way he did in his first start this year. It is always a tease.

I never said it did. I just said that based on what we have to this point, they should absolutely not be treating him as an everyday guy when planning for the future.

Sure, give him playing time as long as it makes sense. But definitely don't bank on him as an answer at this point. Continue to look to fill 3B.

but how can he become that if he barely plays? in favor of people we're absolutely positive are not the future?

I'm not saying Flaherty or Bautista should play over him. I was responding to someone discussing 3B options for next year.

I love Jo-Guns passion and spirit out there. I like guys who have high energy like that. I can spark a team on any given day.

and I don't think it is a fluke that the team hasn't lost when Camargo/Ozzie/Swanson/Acuna all start.

I think we've neared the end of the Flaherty starting era, but that was something that had to be let run its course, IMO. It was not Chipper completing a rehab assignment it was Camargo and I think he hadn't earned the right to be considered unquestionably the starter.

I do hope they don't promote Bautista regardless of how he does in the minors. I feel like the Braves recently had a scenario like that and ended pretty predictably, but I can't remember who that might have been. And it might have been ten years ago -- I misremember sometimes. They did leave Howard down there and release him, so that's the precedent.

all indications seemed to point to bautista getting the call soon tho. like people said the FO was just waiting till he got some ABs. hopefully that's wrong.

What suggests Bautista and flaherty will be better at 3b? Camargo has 448 PA at AAA and mlb last 2 years, and has slashed .296/.339/.477. He has an fWAR of 1.3 in 86 games now during this time period... that is pace for 2.4. Definitely not great, but pretty solid.

2.5 WAR 3B would fit nicely.. Acuna's 12 war.. Ozzie's 10, FF's 8 and Swanson's 5 should carry the rest.. Not even counting Fried's WAR yet.
