GDT: Braves @ Reds 4/26 (No Camargo)

Why did Flaherty try for the long DP? As a former 3B, I'd have gone home and maybe gotten the DP that way. At least that run would not have scored. Although, as it turns out, that run would have scored because Votto's HR would have been a slam.

The single most important call replay can get right is a fair/foul HR. It's absurd that there aren't cameras pointed directly at both foul poles.

that was my reaction too...reminded me of the play Troy Glaus turned in the playoffs against the Giants...we got two but that was the wrong play...i chatted about the Glaus play with a friend who coached infield defense and played in the minors and he said you go home in that situation

if the guy hits his spot on the edge of the strike zone but a notoriously bad ump doesn't call it a strike, saying WELP HE SHOULD'VE THROWN STRIKES doesn't really work. should he hit the edge of the zone, like he did, or throw it clean over the plate, so a bad ump knows it's a strike. newk hasn't been wild in the least today.

Up by 4, you get the 2 outs and limit the big inning.

In a closer game the play is at the plate.

CB is a horrible umpire and he squeezed Newk, but Billy Hamilton shouldn't see anything but fastballs right down the middle. He's been nearly falling over trying to swing the entire series.

yeah, i mean, i'm not going to advocate throwing any big league hitter just fastballs down the middle. if your spot is at the edge of the zone and you hit it, that's supposed to be good.
