Guys are we just going to ignore the fact that statcast apparently had Acuna's top speed last night at 30.3 ft per second? That is like... fastest player in the majors fast. I'm pretty sure that Hamilton topped out at around 29.7 or something like that. I didn't realize Acuna was THIS fast.
If that's the case I'll eat crow for saying he didn't have 60+ grade speed or whatever the argument was last year.
Yes, I was just reading about that. I don't think Hamilton topped out there, though. The sprint speed reported on Statcast is, I believe, the average of the top half of your recorded 'max effort' runs. Only Buxton had a higher number than the 30.3 Acuna posted, but again, I'm pretty sure that's average. Billy Hamilton's average was 29.9.
All of that is semantics, though. The bottom line is, he has elite speed. I saw 70 grades on it, but that is basically 80 grade speed.

Its true. I thought 60 grade speed was about right for him, but holy cow I may have been way off. If he is capable of cracking 30 ft/sec then he has clear 80 grade speed. His ceiling is absurd lol
Wow Newcomb has been insanely impressive today. He looks like a pitcher with elite command... I just wish he could have this command every start.
Agh I missed the ACUBOMB. Gonna have to find a replay. Great start for the kid - love it!
Big lefties take time in general. Plus hes from the northeast.
Newk is going to be great.
randy johnson!
