Didn't Snitker say literally yesterday that they weren't going to play Contreras in the outfield?

I didn't bother to watch after he sent Anderson back out with 90 pitches, but if he did say something that stupid maybe this signals that Alex has had enough and is going to start dictating lineups and Pitcher usage more.

Fingers crossed.

Now call Tromp up to replace Demeritte.

My ideal situation would be Contreras catching twice (Wright and Davidson/other 5th SP), DHing twice, and on a corner another day every week.

Very very very interesting lineup. It’s clearly a “hot hand” reactionary lineup, especially moving Olson to 5, but I am extremely excited to see if Contreras can help fill the gaping hole AA left unaddressed in the OF.

Very interesting indeed, but I expect Contreras to be a disaster in LF.

I agree. Worse than Ozuna.

AA told snit he was gonna play Contreras in LF, and snit decided to personalize the hell out of the batting order

He has the arm. The range is another thing but if Ozuna can do he he should be able too. If he does pan out then we only need one real OF at the deadline with Harris looming.

Don't really see how he can be any worse out there than Ozuna - he's a lot more athletic and has a *elluva lot better arm.

That said, I'd probably have had Ozuna out there, d'Arnaud as the DH, and Contreras behind the plate for TONIGHT'S game - Contreras has worked with Davidson a whole lot more than Travis has, including Davidson's last start.

Ozuna’s range isn’t that bad. It’s his arm that’s the problem. I worry about how Bill is going to read and route fly balls.

At least it's not Contreras' first time at the rodeo out there - he has been used out there at least some. Maybe the point should be that if they're going to use Ozuna as the DH, Contreras won't be any worse than Arcia in LF.

He may not be the perfect option defensively, but they don't have any "true" OFs that are until Waters or Harris force their way into the mix - and as badly as the offense is struggling they need William's bat in there as often as they can get it.

I just don’t see how much worse he can be then Ozuna in the outfield.
Teams don’t respect his arm and I’m not sure there is much speed difference between the two.
I like the idea of having his bat in the lineup.
It’s better then what the alternatives are.
I think we all can agree Demeritte only needs to be a defensive replacement until he’s let go.
