GDT : Braves @ Yankees

You just do. Even if he hit 1.000/1.000/4.000 this spring you get that extra year of control no matter what. There is a really really good chance that we get priced out of Acuna once he hits free agency, so getting that extra year is pivotal.

I honestly don’t understand how anyone with a realistic assessment of the Braves—2018 vintage and longer-term—could actually believe having Acuña on the opening-day roster has even a semblance of sense.

Don't think Fried is ever going to make it as a starter. What are the chances he could bump his velocity up to 95+ on a regular basis if he was coming out of the bullpen?

Why is Jaff getting so much ST time? He doesn't appear to be a serious option, but he just keeps showing up in the lineup. Am I missing something?

the thought of not having acuna once he hits FA already hurts my heart

A lot can happen in 6-7 years and its totally possible that we are in a position to extend him at least 1-2 years. But I think the most likely outcome is that he tests free agency after his last arbitration season

Biggest wildcard will be the new CBA. The one certainty is the players will fight to have more money funneled to younger players. At that point there may be no way to extend Acuna.

Riley reminds me of Wes Helms. All the hype about his bat, and lack of fielding skills. The hype about his bat was all bust and fielding ended up a better talking point. He really never panned out ending up his short career with Fish. He looks like Helms at the plate, runs like Helms, and fields off wrong foot like Helms.

I don't care about the rules and how it impacts my team. It's bush league and I don't support it.

Truly, they are both no Mike Hessman.

One hot summer and a good spring training doesn't really scream that someone is ready either, if you want a baseball reason.

He has had very few AAA at bats. Keeping him down wouldn't be the worst thing from a baseball perspective. Just like having Soroka spend a year in AAA with less stress and more controlled innings would not be the worst thing.
