I don't think he's unavailable. Who should pitch the ninth in that case? Smith has been mere feet away from giving up homers to blow/lose games his last two chances. Thank God for the dead balls. The ****-up was allowing Chavez to load the bases and still be kept in to face the lefty. Pretty obvious if Matzek were feeling well enough to go back-to-back nights, he would have been out there.
