GDT: Cubs @ Braves 5/15

Folty's strike to ball ratio is at one to one. Even when pitching well, he always seems to throw a ton of pitches.

Folty gotta stop throwing that high and outside fastballs to righties tonight. Not gonna get that call tonight.

For the record, the actual difference between Newcomb and Folty is Newcomb's fastball, when it's in the zone is actually good. Folty's is not. It doesn't have enough life on it, so it gets tagged even when he's in the zone. His secondaries have been good however this year.

Neither have particularly good control or command, but Newcomb having three pitches is what truly separates him now.

I don't think he's trying to walk those guys, I think he just doesn't want to get hit, which leaves him painting and thus depending on borderline calls.

Oh I agree, but once a couple calls don't go his way he gets flustered, frustrated, or ticked off and that's when he screws things up. You could just tell by his demeanor he was upset. I guess I should have said IF he hadn't walked two guys no run would have scored despite Zuki's mistake.

Cubs are a patient and good-hitting team. Have to tip the old cap, at times.

"No idea".
"Nor do I have any idea."

Chip and Joe should retire on that note.

Folty proved me wrong, but thank you Cubs for being overly aggressive. How many K's this game were ball four or well outside ball threes?

Folty’s fastballs are plenty good. Is issue is control.
