Swanson has been a replacement level player this year. I think if we are serious about being a competitive team in 2017, we have to look at any plausible alternatives on the roster. I would say the same about left field and right field, where the incumbents have been approximately replacement level. The main difference from my point of view is that we have more plausible alternatives for short on the major league roster than for a corner outfield spot.

Doesn't SRod play RF also? Swanson needs to play. Sitting him vs lhp is not a good game plan for the future of this organization

ETA... if winning is the objective, then play Santana over SRod tonight. Santana is coming from the same place at hit much, much better
 
Snitker obviously doesn't want to play Swanson. At least send Swanson to AAA then... Swanson has sit now 3 of the last 5 games. Snit is playing with fire imo... sitting a young player with a ton of potential that's also a fan favorite could land snit back in Gwinnett if he starts losing
 
I think Camargo getting more time at SS coincides with him being looked at by other teams right now.

S-Rod is probably starting since he's hit Lester well during his time in the AL East.

On that note, Markakis has not hit Lester well at all.
 
SRod has 18 strikeouts vs. Lester -- the most he has against any pitcher, and he is coming off a .056 clip at Gwinnett.

You gotta imagine that Swanson's looking over his shoulder and his pressing a bit too... at least I would be
 
I can understand getting srodriguez in tonight. All the time with the pirates he has seen Lester quite a bit.

Interesting thing brought up on the radio by local talk radio guys, seems the braves are planning to trade either Phillips and/or albies. Why else would you rush SROD back when he only had 39 ABs in the minors and was hitting .077
 
Wow, Swanson has been dumped down the depth chart another spot. If this is the lineup vs LHers, when exactly does Swanson play?
 
I have to admit the way the Braves are dealing with Swanson leaves much to be desired, why Rodriguez is starting a game given his performance in the minors is beyond me. This could destroy any hope that Swanson recovers from the fisrt half.
 
Official move, from Bowman: Rodriguez and Santana activated, Jace and Hursh to Gwinnett, Swanson to the end of the bench to consider his future.

Maybe he should consider losing the mask. Pretty sure his jaw has healed.

He might make sense as a "sweetener" in a Garcia for Profar deal - particularly since he has options.

I didn't see the Swanson part in Bowman's tweet. Did he edit it?
