GDT--Fri 3/16 vs Pirates

I think Jose Altuve is a fair comp for Albies. Just maybe not the Jose Altuve of the last two years. I think 2015 Altuve is a realistic ceiling. In 2015, Altuve hit .313 with a .353 OBP, .459 SLG, 15 HRs and 38 SBs.

It's unrealistic to think Albies could be the Altuve of the last two years. Putting expectations of a .340 BA with nearly 25 HRs is a bit much for any prospect.

My realistic ceiling for Albies is prime Jose Vidro with better defense.

That doesn't seem like a natural comparison physically.

In my memory Vidro was thicker with more natural power and didn't run.

If you are gonna give him Vidro's bat, you might as well go full Robbie Alomar.

What I mean to say is that a second basemen who hits .300 with near .400 OBP with 15-25 HR power with better defense than Jose Vidro plus a steals game is more or less Robbie Alomar or Altuve.

the crazy part of the comp is the bat plus moderate power.

Schimpf in 1st game since 3/12 went 0-3 with 2 Ks and a BBs.

Totals for ST ---0-27, 5 BBs, 18 Ks

Mental Midget says that's **** poor. Just for msstate7

Albies is going to be Alomar or Altuve. Sure, why not.

Swanson was going to be Jeter or Larkin.

According to Garr, Acuna is going to be a HOFer like Trout or Aaron.

Pache has the floor of Kevin Pillar.

If you’re going to pile unrealistic expectations on every single prospect, you may as well be consistent I guess.

Just give him 100 more ABs... takes him a min

There has to be a reason why the Rays essentially gave him away? Still looking for the "maybe"?

Just for fun, who's going to turn it around 1st and reach the potential we all think they can.-- Swanson or Schimpf??

Swanson will be good this year. Not sure why you attach me to shrimp. I’m a big Swanson guy, but I’ve never liked shrimp

Lane Adams stays hot with a homer today, that's hits in 4 of his last 5 (including one game where he only PH and didn't get a hit).

You called me a mental midget for making a less than positive comment about Schrimpf. You then expounded on "maybe" he'll turn it around and his stats while playing for the Rays bare that out.

Every one is entitled an opinion. Mine says Schimpf sucks and why is he taking ABs from Ruiz, Camargo and more importantly Riley.

man you need to adjust your sarcasm meter

I’m not getting into the Albies = Altuve debate with you again. Altuve showed more power than Albies his entire career, and represents the 99th percentile outcome for a player that size.

Nothing anyone will ever say can convince you that every Braves player isn’t destined for their top 5th Percentile outcome.

Albies is not going to be Altuve, but check the stats. Albies has put up comparable or even better power numbers at some points. And at a younger age.

Albies could become what Altuve is but it would take development that is out of the ordinary. Some kind of jump in production that can't be expected or even predicted. It would be an abnormal development.

To be honest, it took abnormal development for Altuve to reach what he is. He was good when he came up but it took an extraordinary jump for him to become the player he is.

If people are going to include the chance for abnormal development curves in projecting players' ceilings then any pitching prospect has top of the rotation ceiling and every hitter is potentially the next Chipper.

If everything in Albies' development goes well and he doesn't hit any road blocks, he's an early career Altuve or maybe a Rafael Furcal. But it would take some unpredictable jump in production from him to reach what Altuve has become.

I have never in my life called someone a mental midget. I have never personally insulted anyone on here. You got the wrong dude.
