I really don’t know what we do with Will Smith. Our lefty arms behind Minter are not reliable for playoff baseball. Lee is too inexperienced to be trusted in high leverage situations Smith is basically a glorified junk baller and who knows what’s up with Matzek?

Don’t worry, I’ve been assured by the brightest baseball mind to ever visit this board that the Braves have so many dominant BP arms they can barely fit them all on a single jetliner, much less fit them on the roster. I mean, I’ve seen the names listed out for crying out loud, and that’s all I need to be convinced.

I’d be hard pressed not to use strider for 15-18 batters to start a game.

I’m just assuming that he will be close to his innings limit and we can more strategically place him in higher leverage scenarios.

That's been my fear/expectation since the beginning of the season, and we haven't seen any updates to affect that timeline. They'll bring him along slowly and hope he can pitch with health and bring value in 2023 and 2024 before he goes to FA—unless he looks healthy enough in 2023 that they come to a mutually-amenable extension. Given how long he's been down, he might just take something affordable to buy him out of his 20s.

His setback was getting hit by a line drive in the knee. So at least it’s nothing to do with the Achilles

Probably best that soroka isn’t rushed into a pennant race but it would sure make me feel better to see the kid pitch again.
