GDT: Marlins @ Braves Trade Deadline Day Special

Mediocre stuff, rain or no rain, Allard still out-pitched a veteran Dan Straily who'd been pitching pretty well for the last couple of months. So Allard has that going for him.

(Yeah, I'm a glass half full kind of guy tonight.)
 
Just saying his curve is supposed to be his best pitch and it hasnt been working tonight. I want to see him when his curve us on.

But unless he adds a couple MPH to his fastball, his going to have to have pinpoint command. You're not getting away with mistakes ay 89.
 
I think it’s pretty obvious why Allard plummeted down prospect rankings.

I’m curious to see what the Allard fans around here think.

We all pretty much saw the same thing--not a lot of reason to think he'll last very long at this level and that his minor league reviews were accurate.
 
Allard's change-up was not that good and he had no curve tonight. He located his fastball fine for most part outside of that homer. He gave up a hit on a hanging change-up this inning and curve in dirt that hanged too.
 
It's not like he hides the ball well and that fastball can play up. To succeed with that velocity you need deception and a ++ changeup.
