GDT: Marlins @ Braves Trade Deadline Day Special

I’ll reserve final judgement until I have real data, but so far I’m not impressed based on the eye test.
He looks like Jeremy Moyer as a 40 yo.

89-90 better be moving and pin point.

Looks like a cheap 5th starter or long guy to me.

Needs to go to driveline. Need some 95 videos in the off-season. Then turn him into to second piece on a big deal

The eye test is telling us what the minor league stats told us; he doesn’t miss enough bats and his fastball is borderline pathetic. He’ll need a good defense to have any kind of success.

Yeah - based on 2 innings of eye test... not impressed

I thought I remember him being touted as a 95 mph guy when he was dradfted

Given his draft resume vs. what we're seeing, I can't help but wonder if he's ever truly recovered from the back issues he had that caused him to drop to us with the 14th overall pick. It's pretty common for people in their 30s and older with serious back issues to never really recover. I figured that wouldn't be a problem for a teenager but...

He never threw 95. He’s been high 80s or low 90s. When a player is drafted by or traded for by the Braves he’s automatically better than he was before.

President Clinton is happy to hear it.

They have a 95 win team playing .500 ball and you could easily point to injuries as being a significant factor why.

They might not ever put it together or they could win 15 in a row.

Neither the Braves or Phillies are good bets to have a huge finish so I don't think they necessarily have to do anything ridiculous.

Disagree. Both the Braves and Phillies made significant improvements. The Nats have a reported toxic locker room, a rotation that is struggling and an overall bad defense.

I do not like Allard's rhythm. He starts slow then rushes to the plate on the delivery. No wonder he has has control problems. Hard to recreate a consistent arm slot when you have no fluidity in your delivery.

He'd be more suited to be a reliever with those mechanics.

Braves got excited about his stuff bumping up during his draft year, before then I don't think it was quite as good, with the old regimen they got excited about all of a sudden bumped up stuff a lot from players.

His stuff was electric in Danville/Rome two years ago from what I know...then it started dropping off in 2016.

But it looks like a bunch of teams missed on Allard, as he was a candidate to go #1 in 2015 before the back problem. Still could be a useful pitcher so non-bust, but I'm seeing what everyone was saying on him.
