GDT Nats Braves 4/12

I figured Mallex would get the day off vs a LHer the day after nearly being decapitated by his own batting helmet.

Chacin really impressing with those breaking pitches so far. I fear that teams will eventually adjust though.

If Garcia doesn't work out as a starter at third, he should at least work out as someone solid to platoon at both third and LF vs lefties as he seems very strong vs lefty pitchers. Plus he is actually a good defender in LF unlike his countryman Olivera.

Chacin is a good pitcher, he knows how to pitch and that's why I have liked him for years. He has a good mix of pitches and good feel for most even with less velo now than before his shoulder issues. If he still had his former velocity and/or if he gets it back he could be very good again. But even at where he's at he could have success if he mixes his pitches well since he gets good movement on a number of them.

I'd like for Garcia to keep upping his value. He'd be a decent DH like Gattis for an AL team.

Garcia defense in LF was good despite what some may say, he actually saved a run out there and had good range. Small sample but I saw the same with Gwinnett so I have no doubts he can play LF fine. There are a ton that play LF regularly that are worse.
