Those pitches are rarely called for strikes though. Just happens that Lucroy is the best framer in baseball. And 3-1 with that pitch instead of 2-2 is likely a walk.

That was the story for BJ most of last year. Getting all kinds of terrible strikes called against him and then him swinging at clear balls and striking out.
