GDT: Padres @ Braves 5/1 Mayday?

That was our version of the Reds’ RP striking out the side with the bases loaded against us, I know only two strikeouts but we are just as happy as they were!

The addition of a plus Slider and elite control has completely changed the evaluation of Fried as a SP. The addition of a pitch makes sense, but I don’t think anyone saw this type of control coming.

At the age of 25 he may be one of those exceptions where an older guy figures out the control.

I don’t know much about determining the sustainability of an improved BB rate, so it’s something to dig into a bit to see if it’s really real.
 
Fried said that he learned that being the best version of me is fine after the Cleveland start.

Part of his command getting better is that he doesn't always try to get a chase strikeout anymore when he has two strikes, but that's only part of it.

Man I wish more would do that. Stop trying to get the case K. Establish that you are going to be agressive first. Just try to execute good pitcher pitches on every pitch versus oh I got this guy 0-2 let me throw some **** up there and hope he swings. I hate seeing guys go from 0-2 to 3-2, Because they were trying to trick them.

you also have to factor in the injuries with fried. missing so much time, not pitching as a young pitcher, has to effect that kind of thing.

Blisters are the only thing thats held him back the past three years. He would have been up in 2017 otherwise in the rotation.
 
the Braves position players, currently:
4th in MLB in WAR
6th in MLB in wRC+
2nd in BB rate
7th in K rate
9th in ISO

Only somewhat "worrisome" number is 5th in BABIP.
if the pitching can solidify, which it seems like it could...this team will be very good.
