GDT: padres game 1

I was fine with Rosario signing, but I'm getting worried now

I'm not worried about Rosario. Extremely small sample size and his .056 BABIP is unsustainable. He's also not going to make as many boneheaded plays in the field as he's made so far.

When we signed Rosario I thought we'd add at lease one more OF (maybe Soler). I'd have preferred another OF over Jansen. Our current roster makeup relies too much on Rosario and Duvall who are more role players than every day starters at this point.

None of the realistic OF targets other than Canha have done anything in the first week.

Cahna: .881 OPS
Duvall: .629 OPS
Rosario: .197 OPS
Avisail: .423 OPS
Marte: .555 OPS
Pham: .211 OPS
Soler: .390 OPS
Conforto: sitting at home

So it's not like Rosario/Duvall have been some anomaly of awfulness.

I'm less worried about his bat than him playing rf like I would

I suspect Rosario may have a focus problem.

The whole team seems to have this "it's still spring training" air around them. They are very frustrating to watch right now.

Maybe we can end up getting Conforto part way through the year like Keuchel if we continue to have OF problems. That was also Boras

Depends if it's a multi-year deal or a show me contract. If it's a one year contract to showcase a rebound year, I'd be all for getting Conforto. That would allow us to use Ozuna as a full time DH and to platoon Rosario and Duvall when Acuna comes back. If he's wanting a big time, multi-year deal then I'm against it.

Not sure we have the budget left either way though after signing Jansen.

AA always leaves substantial money in the pot for in season additions. Maybe not that much but who knows. If Conforto hasn't signed a big mult-year deal by now, I can't imagine he's going to. Maybe he sits out this year... who knows.

This team seems to know they are so good on paper and they are cruising until Acuna is back...they should be scoring on average six runs a game right? and when it normalizes this is going to be fun.... just have to keep Mississippi away from incendiary devices ...

Man, Rosario routinely makes boneheaded plays. He made, like, 3-4 dumb mistakes on the basepaths and in the outfield in the single month he was with us last season. I believe 50 even said it was his MO in Minnesota.

He might make boneheaded plays, just not at the rate he currently is. He's on pace for about 60 errors at the moment.
