Needed this thread up in time for someone to comment that we were seeing the bad Newk today during the first. glad he was able to turn it around without that obligitory comment! ;-)

If he keeps that up, plenty will admit it. But I’d like to see a full season before I throw out superlatives.

Name of the game is not giving up runs. His FIP was 3.38 (career 3.85) and that went down today. I love this kid, and I think he will only get better. His first 32 starts = 2.7 fWAR... what's not to like?

Newk is very, very good as is. The only thing between him and elite ace status are his walks. He just needs to be a little more consistent with his command, like he was today, and he's one of the best in the game.
