For all the hate Culberson got on here, he has been the best player so far for us from that Kemp trade. Glad we didn't release him as most on here wanted. He is a plus defender at short too, so if he keeps hitting like this he is good enough to start at short should we need him.

He can play everywhere but catcher, good player to have.

Getting Newk for Simmons isn't causing me nearly as much pain as it once did, either.

True, always good to have those type of players. AA was right to stick with him rather than give him away via waivers. Dodgers would've claimed him back I think had we done so at the time. Well, if not someone before them that is.

Getting Newk for Simmons isn't causing me nearly as much pain as it once did, either.

It is me, but at least Newk is contributing and has had a solid start to the season. But Simmons is hitting like an All-Star this year while also being the best in the world on defense. He is hitting well over .300 with an OPS still at .845 after his 0-4 day today. Plus Simmons hits a lot of warning track fly balls that would go out in this new ballpark. So I think he'd have something like a .900 OPS if playing in Atlanta this year.

I remember and didn't intend to single anyone out. I will be the first to admit that Culberson was frustrating me too on offense early on, but to be fair it is hard to stay sharp if you rarely play. I mainly supported AA keeping him around for his defense at short and ability to play the OF. I don't think some others here knew he could play OF though. Not that he is anything special out there but he is better than Kemp out there, etc.
