GDT: Phillies @ Braves 18 Sept 22 1:35pm***Get out the brooms***

I’ve seen slumps like the one Olson is in. They don’t just suddenly end. It takes an off-season to get corrected. Think Jose Ramirez circa 2018.

Pressure getting to Olson. Better get it together. The braves might be forced to deal him before the contract is out at this rate.

I hope he has a career year next year and AA deals him to a Preller-ish type fool. I don’t like extending bat only guys well into their 30’s any more than Enscheff.

I'm not going to conjecture on what's wrong with Olson. I don't know if it's pressure, but it's never fun to stink it up in your hometown. Lots of people think it's great to play for the team you grew up rooting for, but there's a downside to it in that you're home a lot more and that can be a distraction. Twin Cities really soured on Joe Mauer when his career started its downward cycle. Not saying the same thing is happening here.

I will say that next time we face a LHP, start Arcia at 2B, Grissom at 3B, and Riley at 1B just to give Olson a mental health day.

In all seriousness, he may be one of those guys that just struggle to play for hometown teams. It has happened before.

Mets take lead. On bright side we just got through the pirates / Phillies weekend and didn’t lose ground (assuming no 9th inning fire works)

Next three days big.
